Grant Applicant Eligibility Guidelines

The Community Foundation solicits and accepts grant applications from organizations that meet our Grant Applicant Eligibility Guidelines.  The project activities must be of benefit to the community, defined as Area K.  The Grants Committee, comprised of members of the Board of the Nakusp Community Foundation will evaluate the applications and will award the grants within the restrictions of available funds.


Organization Eligibility

Applicant Organizations must:

  1. Be a Registered Charity recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency
  2. Have a committed volunteer board
  3. Be able to demonstrate financial responsibility
  4. Be based in Area K: Nakusp, Edgewood, Trout Lake, Summit Lake, or any area within

Or you group may be sponsored by a Registered Charity.


Granting Priorities

In awarding grants, particular consideration will be given to projects which:

  1. Contribute to a Healthy Community
  2. Promote advancement in the Arts & Culture, Environmental Protection, Recreation, Healthcare, Social Welfare & Education
  3. Promote Community Development

Project Characteristics

Projects should demonstrate some of the following characteristics:

  1. Translate needs & problems into solutions & opportunities
  2. Lead to individual, community or organizational self-sufficiency
  3. Build partnerships, promote networking and sharing among diverse groups and individuals
  4. Are innovative
  5. Show benefit to your community

Granting Restrictions

The Community Foundation does not grant funds for:

  1. Fundraising events or campaign activities
  2. Partisan political or religious activities
  3. Unaligned individuals
  4. Deficit reduction
  5. Operation or administrative expenses
